Hedidntthinktheyhadace,howeverclosethisvillagemightbe.Theyhadbeenridingatabone-jarringpaceforhoursandthehorsesAlieniventhemweretired.Ifthiswastobeaflat-outraceagainstfresh-moulawstheywereprobablydead.Hegrittedhisteethandrode,igntheahislegaingofreopesfromhisleapinthemountainsearlierthatday.
